Constructability Reviews

First the architect develops a design that addresses both the functional and aesthetic needs of the Owner. Materials and systems are selected by the architect, and the design is completed. It sounds simple but is really a very demanding and complicated process.

Along that road the ability to construct the facility may get pushed into the background. We offer our clients, and their design team, a careful review of the design documents to evaluate the “constructability” of the project. We look at details of how materials connect to each other and work together. We work with the team to understand the basis for their choices of materials and systems and then make suggestions for alternatives that might lower costs, expedite construction and improve the building’s performance. As part of this process we offer comments on information and details in the construction documents that might help in the interpretation of the documents by the subs and suppliers. We also will point out any problems and conflicts we might find. We believe that our Constructability Reviews can have the greatest impact on saving our clients money by heading off the problems before they get to the field.
